Click for larger image Tenerife is the largest and most varied of the 7 Canary islands, often
called the Fortune Isles because of their all-year-round spring-like
climate. Here, temperatures are high, breezes are balmy and the sun is
strong enough to give you tan even when the sky is overcast.
The south of Tenerife looks very clearly what it is- a volcanic island
with a rugged, arid landscape and a coastline fringed with black and
golden sand. Here, lively beach resorts offer a host of sporting
activities and entertainment.
The humid north however, has more exotic surroundings with lush valleys planted with bananas and rich tropical flowers.
At the centre of the island there is the magnificent crater of Las
Canadas where massive Mount Teide rises, more than 12,000 feet above
sea level.
This is a bountiful island with something for everyone.
